Established in the 1970s as a city of the future" by its developer, the Arvida Company, it was finally incorporated in the late 90s. Shortly thereafter, the residents of nearby Bonaventure (an adjoining community established by different developers) voted to join the city.

According to the city's information guide, Weston is "one of a new breed of cities that are developing a contractual form of government, keeping actual employees to a minimum and outsourcing needed services to the provider who can provide the highest quality at a competitive price." This can mean that some functions you ordinarily expect to be handled internally might instead be taken care of by outside organizations under contract to the city. For example, Planning & Zoning is the responsibility of a civil engineering firm in Hollywood, several miles east of Weston's city limits. Residents' water is provided for and billed by the City of Sunrise, northeast of Weston. Email: cityhall@westonfl.org

As trivial as this may sound as we're a professional couple and don't get to watch television very often. However, when we do sit down to watch television, its amazing how insulting the viewing lineup is that advanced cable communications provides. I look forward to 2013, when we can get rid of advanced cable finally have companies competing for our money by offering more intelligent television shows for when we FINALLY sit down in the evenings once in a while.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the plan to start cleaning up the water lilies from our lakes ? My particular concern is the lake behind the pool in the Meadows. I am afraid that area will continue to turn into a swamp. The longer it takes the more expensive it is going to be.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
